The 18th Annual Transportation Education Symposium at Asilomar last fall was a huge success. Thirty-five students from universities around the state and professionals representing all the fields of transportation enjoyed two days of mentoring and sharing career experiences. Students took home advice and personal contacts they will use throughout their careers. Professionals returned to work engaged and refreshed by the eager enthusiasm of the students. Like many of CTF’s programs, the Education Symposium would not be possible without the financial support of co-sponsors. They are: Self-Help Counties Coalition; Caltrans; CALTROP; CirclePoint; Fehr & Peers; Jacobs Carter Burgess; Lehman Brothers; Mendoza Associates; Nolte Associates; PB Americas, Inc. Thank you. |

Professor Information Every year the California Transportation Foundation is pleased to invite you to select three of your university’s best and brightest junior or senior civil engineering or planning undergraduates, those who are interested in transportation related careers, to be our guests at the CTF Transportation Education Symposium. The two-day and one night event, free to students, will takes place on the Santa Cruz coast in mid-November. The Symposium brings 35 students together with a like number of high-level practicing professionals in interactive sessions exploring today’s real world of transportation engineering and planning. Students find the Symposium a unique opportunity to increase their understanding of the field, get career advice and meet today’s transportation leaders. Over the years quite a few students have labeled the event one of the best experiences of their college careers. More than a few have been hired by companies or agencies they met at the Symposium. All have found it beneficial. We are looking for bright, articulate students. This is an interactive event, including role playing, and a mock presentation. We are taking care to invite only the most engaging, high-level professional to this Symposium and we ask you to do the same with your student nominations. |
